2026 – The Journey Continues – God has a Plan and Purpose for Our Lives – Part XVII

Monday, I met with my ENT, who examined my vocal cords, which he deemed normal, and concluded this was a neurological problem. I need to be totally candid with you. Since starting chemo and immunotherapy, my face has developed a mask-like look, so I have to force even a slight smile.  In addition, when eating, I can take small bites and can sip water. Otherwise, I choke. My appetite is down as well as my ability to force food. When I walk, there is a noticeable change in my rhythm or gait. Overall, anxiety appeared, which on occasion, I need to medicate.

Daughters Amy and Ashley researched these symptoms, and could be the result of infusing Keytruda, which attacks cancer through the immune systems, and may suppress other organs and nerves. Amy and Ashley will be there next week in my appointment with oncologist to advocate for pausing the Keytruda until a neurologist can evaluate the situation. I’m determined to fight cancer, although these other symptoms affect quality of life, which need to be addressed as well.

The challenge of making appointments with a neurologist; it could take months. My ENT knew a neurologist at Emory and would see if he could get me in there sooner than the 4/26 date Emory gave me. I am on a waitlist and invariably, there will be cancellations opening a more recent date. I am awaiting appointment feedback from my ENT.

Mayo Clinic was offered to me by my oncologist to start, and I believe he worked there, based on a prior review of his bio. I may take him up on this, in terms of assembling a team of experts to address all my health issues.

To all my prayer warriors: Invoke the name of Jesus, and pray there may be comprehensive cure, both from a cure for cancer, and dealing with the emerging neurological issues need a cure too! Pray that I get my appetite back, and I can gain weight.

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)

Have a Blessed Week!
