2026 – The Journey Continues – God has a Plan and Purpose for Our Lives – Part XXII

My neurologist recently increased my dopamine dosage to mitigate my Parkinson’s symptoms; next week, I will double it again. While I haven’t noticed a significant reduction in symptoms myself, others have mentioned that my posture is more upright. On the positive side, my appetite has increased and my digestion has improved. To manage the swelling in my feet—another feature of this illness—I have been prescribed Lasix and other medications.

I especially want to recognize Ken and Charlotte Kitchen. They have been the best of friends to us, bringing food and leading a group of “prayer warriors” at their church. They send us greeting cards regularly, each inscribed with Charlotte’s inspiring words. I also heard from Dr. Tom McNamara, a former colleague from WellStar Cobb Hospital, who offered to travel from the South Carolina coast to visit. He sent a Mass card, several prayer cards, and a book; I hope to see him in the near future.

My time is currently limited since I am off my chemotherapy. I must reduce my Parkinson’s symptoms before I can resume cancer treatment. So far, the news is good: I am experiencing no cancer-related pain. Eventually, as the cancer progresses internally, I expect to face some pain, increased fatigue, and a loss of appetite.

My prayer warriors are hoping for a miracle through Jesus’ active involvement—that both the cancer and Parkinson’s might be removed and my health fully restored.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”Philippians 4:13
